Wave by Odosdesign, our new furniture collection for elderly care facilities
Wave is our new furniture collection for elderly care facilities, the result of our collaboration with the Valencia-based design studio Odosdesign. This collection features a flowing, curved silhouette with no sharp edges, blending design with the needs of people with mobility issues and their caregivers.
Wave incorporates a wooden handle on the back of the chair, facilitating movement within elderly care environments.
The rounded shape of the legs and seats, ranging from chairs to armchairs, defines the essence of this furniture collection for care homes and nursing homes, which also includes a table available in sizes from 90 to 180 centimetres in length.
A collection with a wavy silhouette and no edges that combines design with care for people with mobility problems and their carers.
Thanks to its versatility in terms of sizes and finishes Wave is an ideal choice for dining rooms, communal areas, and multipurpose spaces designed for elderly people or individuals with reduced mobility.
According to Ana Segovia, designer at Odosdesign, the goal with Wave was to move away from oversized, unaesthetic geriatric furniture.
In their view, some pieces of geriatric design are overly large, which is why they chose a Nordic style that is both friendly and suitable for users of all kinds.
As a detail aimed at enhancing the comfort and well-being of users, the armrests are slightly longer than usual to provide better support and ease of movement for those with limited leg mobility.
The armchairs, available in wood or upholstered finished, complement the chairs and tables, forming a collection of lightweight and versatile pieces.
Wave was one of the new products we presented at the Orgatec fair in Cologne (Germany), in a booth designed by Romero & Vallejo studio. Great care was taken with the materials, fabrics, and colors, recreating the archetype and structure of a traditional German home. This created a sequence of continuous yet distinct environments, made possible by the space and the arrangement of the furniture, resulting in pleasant, comfortable, and functional settings.
