At Seniorcare, we are proud to introduce Cala, our new furniture collection, which includes chairs and armchairs for care and nursing homes and for individuals with mobility issues. Cala is a collection designed by Alegre Design to provide optimal comfort and functionality in care homes and nursing homes right from the design stage.
Cala is a furniture collection for seniors that conveys serenity. It also offers a wide range of options in terms of sizes, features, and finishes, with several types of armchairs – fixed, reclining, and transport versions.

The backrests offer options of high, low, and high with wingback, and are paired with an ottoman for footrest. In the winged armchair version, the top section evokes the petals of a “calla”.
A new feature of the transport version is the Cala armchair’s convertible footrest, which extends to provide additional comfort, making the user’s transfer much easier.
According to Marcelo Alegre, CEO of Alegre Design and designer behind the collection, the challenge has been to combine beauty, durability, and functionality—qualities he believes have often been overlooked in furniture for nursing homes.
¨With the emergence of new spaces dedicated to the care and attention of this group, a design was needed that maintained the functional and ergonomic requirements of the residential sector, while also incorporating an aesthetic refinement that would provide visual comfort for the user. “The armchair meets all the technical requirements of nursing homes and provides an advanced design, high ergonomics, and visual well-being,” says the designer. ¨
Additionally, Alegre Design has focused on ergonomics to enhance the experience for both the user and caregivers, creating an armchair that facilitates interaction and improves comfort of daily routines.
The Cala collection is based on traditional materials, featuring a robust beech wood frame and high-density foam that ensures comfort and durability.
